The Reason for the Season

Resident Life
December 11, 2023

Christmas is about more than presents and setting up your tree. While holiday decorating and other festivities can be very fun, figuring out what Christmas means to you is important.

There are plenty of reasons to celebrate Christmas in all its glory (and, of course, in all His glory). Find out how our residents feel about Christmastime and how we make the season special for everyone.

How Pine Haven's Core Values Shine Through at Christmas

At Pine Haven, we center Christ in everything we do. He is the reason for the season; we will incorporate Him whenever possible. That is why we have high standards for our therapy services, assisted living, and other senior living services.

Our core values are:

  • Christian values
  • Compassion
  • Love
  • Respect for the individual
  • Dedication
  • Quality care

God has blessed us with the ability to care for residents as individuals, not just numbers. Around the holidays, specifically Christmastime, we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ and His contribution to our core values.

As we get festive and fun, we also encourage residents to reflect on what makes Christmas so important. Christ showed the world love, dedication, compassion, and respect, just as we do for residents at Pine Haven.

Giving and receiving gifts on Christmas symbolizes the love and compassion Christ gifted the world. He gave His life for us, and we are here to return that with a giving spirit each holiday season.

What Is the Meaning of Christmas? What Our Residents Say

Our residents have much to say about the holy joys and spiritual servitude around Christmastime. Here's what a few Pine Haven residents have said when asked, "What does Christmas mean to you?"

Faye: "My Savior was born on Christmas. I enjoy the music this time of year and all the kids' programs. I appreciate all the work they do for decorating. I'm happy I'm amongst friends and thankful I can live here."

Carol D.: "The birth of our Savior Jesus Christ. Also, I get to see my family more often."

Delores: "Getting together with loved ones and celebrating Christ's birth."

Norbert: “Christ is born. I fondly remember when I used to sell Christmas trees for $3.00 each.”

Cheryl: "Peace on Earth. Family, faith, and God. Gathering together where we are and what we will do as a family."

Betty: "What Jesus did for us, making a way for us to go to heaven."

Sue: "Time with family, going to church, Christmas hymns and Christmas decorations."

Can you see the common theme in all of these enthusiastic responses? The answer is simple: Christ. He is at the center of this season and all of our endeavors during the rest of the year.

For Pine Haven residents and staff, Christmas is all about gathering with loved ones and reveling in the honor Jesus brought forth to the world. We combine festive activities with meaningful spiritual reflection to bring everyone closer to God.

Holiday Benevolence: Serving Others in the Spirit of Christ

God gave the greatest gift in all of humanity to the world: His only son. We mirror this benevolent spirit at Pine Haven, especially around Christmastime.

One of our core values is dedication. To us, this means that residents and their families receive the highest-quality care. Through charity work, volunteering, and excellent resident service, we bring the spirit of Christmas to every resident throughout our communities each holiday season.
